Managing the Edges: Exterior Control Layers & Durable Transitions: Modeled and Mocked Up

Exterior control layers do their most important work at the edges: where assemblies change, materials meet, and openings interrupt the wall. The SawHorse Passive House Design Build Team explores durable transitions for air, water, vapor, and thermal control through field-ready details, including a window-installation mockup and a vapor-diffusion port. We’ll also use THERM thermal-bridge modeling and WUFI hygrothermal analysis to show how design decisions can be tested before they are built.
